Learn how to promote your poetry title with these basic book marketing steps: write and distribute a press release, host or schedule a poetry reading book launch, submit your book for reviews at poetry-specific literary markets, and submit to poetry-specific book awards. You will get a list of publications that accept poetry reviews and a list of awards that accept poetry books. Plus, a sample press release, a sample letter to send to bookstores and libraries asking them to host you for readings and stock your title, and advice on social media marketing and poetry-specific hashtags. Samantha Kolber is the author of Birth of a Daughter (Kelsay Books, 2020), the Gold Winner in the 2021 Human Relations Indie Book Award. She is currently the Poetry Series Editor and Sales & Marketing Director at Rootstock Publishing, where two poetry books she acquired and edited received Kirkus Starred Reviews! She received her MFA in creative writing in 2012 and previous jobs include associate director of sales & marketing at Tupelo Press, managing editor of Hunger Mountain at Vermont College of Fine Arts, and publications and communications manager at Goddard College.
