Association Conference (NEIBA)

Registration Opens June 1, 2026

Attendees travel from across the regions to meet authors like yourself, discover unique and new releases from indie authors and small presses, seek collaborations, attend educational sessions and socialize with potential business partners. It is a beehive of activity among authors, publishers, booksellers, and other industry professionals.  

You and/or your book should be there to be seen and seek new distribution options.

What is NEIBA: The New England Independent Booksellers Association (NEIBA) is the non-profit trade association for the retail book industry in New England. Serving independent booksellers since 1973, NEIBA has over 260 members representing more than 190 bookstores. NEIBA’s mission is to further the success of professional independent booksellers in New England and to foster a vital and supportive bookselling community. IPNE at NEIBA: IPNE will have a booth in the exhibit hall of the convention. You can exhibit your book(s), attend and network with Independent Booksellers and other attendees, or have your book placed in the IPNE catalog, which will be distributed to attendees. Book sales are not allowed. 

Benefits of exhibiting at the IPNE booth:

• Unique opportunity to directly interact with Independent Booksellers who can showcase and distribute your books.
• A direct line to those that can significantly impact your books success.
• IPNE exhibitors at NEIBA get invaluable facetime with key decision-makers in the bookselling world. 
• This direct engagement allows for pitch meetings, relationship building, and immediate feedback on your titles. 
• A cost-effective way to have a presence at this important trade show for indie authors. Sharing a booth with fellow IPNE members helps to reduce individual costs, providing access to a book buying group that would otherwise be inaccessible to most indie authors. A major benefit of IPNE membership.
•  This is where booksellers go to discover new talent and replenish their stock. Being part of this increases your visibility and the chance of getting your books stocked in independent bookstores throughout the region. 
• This exposure can lead to significant sales increases and long-term relationships with booksellers who champion independent publishing.

Date: The conference is Sept 15 – 17. There is one day to exhibit which is Sept 16. Vendor hours for IPNE exhibitors and volunteers TBA.

Where: Boston Newton Marriott Hotel, Newton MA.

IMPORTANT RULE: DO NOT CALL NEIBA WITH YOUR QUESTIONS ABOUT

THIS EVENT. NO EXCEPTIONS.

Why? IPNE has a unique relationship with NEIBA. We are the only organization which has multiple exhibitors. Having 20-30 IPNE members calling with questions or seeking exhibit access on the date of the event overwhelms the NEIBA team. Direct all your questions to IPNE using the contact us form or call 781-214-0980. On the day of the event there will be an IPNE volunteer with your access badge. In order for IPNE to maintain this relationship with NEIBA it is important for you to direct all questions to IPNE. Walk in access badges on the date of the event will not be possible. Do not contact NEIBA with questions or approach their registration booth on the day of the event. You will have the cell phone numbers of two IPNE coordinators on exhibit day to help you.

The past two years we tried something new which was popular (sold out in three days). When you exhibit, your book is included in the IPNE catalog which is available at our booth. We also distribute it by walking around and giving it to the 600+ attendees.

This year we will also have an ad in the NEIBA event booklet, which contains the schedule of events and other conference information and is constantly referred to by attendees through the conference.

You can place your book cover in our ad in the NEIBA event booklet. See last year’s NEIBA ad below. This gives your book additional visibility to the independent Booksellers and helps get them to our booth to view your book. We offer large book cover spots ($95) and smaller book cover spots ($60.) Each year these spots sell out quickly and some exhibitors are disappointed. 

This upgrade option is offered on a first come first served basis. Those who register early have the first opportunity to reserve these spots until they run out.

Author book signing opportunities: 

Participating in book signings is a rewarding experience for authors. Authors connect directly with industry participants, personalize copies of their book, and build lasting relationships with booksellers. NEIBA charges an additional fee for authors to be featured at a book signing event.

Eligibility: Registration is open to IPNE members. Books to be exhibited are curated. Click here for curation guidelines. (Any IPNE member book that meets minimum standards of production and quality can be exhibited.)

Materials: You may include up to 50 4×9” rack cards. We cannot accommodate other types of promotional materials or displays. We will have banners and other display materials.

What you need to do to register and participate:

Register to exhibit by August 7th, 2026. NOTE: If you wish to upgrade your presence with your book cover in the IPNE ad within the NEIBA conference catalog or a book signing, those opportunities are first come first served. If you wish an upgrade option, register now or ASAP. 

You will need a high-resolution image of your company logo or book image. You will also need to provide information about you and your book to be included in the IPNE catalog/flyer.

You will receive all necessary instructions as to the above, booth etiquette, where to ship your books to us (non-returnable) and other details well in advance.
