Presenters: Megan Harris, Sally Stetson, Deidre Randall, and Jeniffer Thompson

SESSION DETAILS:

Creative control of your work is vital.

Megan Harris

Debbie Burns

I’m passionate about reading, libraries, and books. I’m a huge advocate for the independent creative, such as indie authors or self published authors, because I believe having creative control of your work is one of the most vital things you can have.

From the time I learned to read, I wanted to write, and I caught the editing bug in high school, working as a writer and then eventually the editor in chief of my high school newspaper! I’ve been editing independently for about a decade and offer other services such as book blurb writing, editing critiques, and more.

My favorite authors include Xio Axelrod, Sandra Cisneros, Stephen King, Zora Neale Hurston, Gillian Flynn, and William Faulkner, among others.

Deidre Randall

Debbie Burns

Deidre Randall has spent 24 years publishing and marketing books. She is the CEO of Peter E. Randall Publisher in Portsmouth, NH, and also a songwriter and a poet. She coordinates all book projects, distribution and marketing efforts for each title. Deidre feels that, “In this era of short attention spans, it’s more important than ever to have a strong design for the cover and the interior of your book. You only have about 10 seconds for your cover to catch someone’s eye. Good design is the key to a professional book, perhaps even more than good editing, as it provides the gateway for readers to enter your world. Making it inviting and readable is crucial!”
